The lute player Lorenzo Gusnasco da Pavia sends a letter to Isabella d’Este from Venice stating that Leonardo has shown him a drawn portrait of her.

On 24th April Leonardo arrives in Florence, and probably resides in the church complex of Santissima Annunziata, where he draws a lost cartoon of the Virgin and Child with St. Anne, when he should have been working on the high altar for the Church of SS. Annunziata.

Leonardo probably completes what is now referred to as Paris Manuscript M.
