Ludovico Sforza il Moro, “the Moor”, sends the bronze for the Sforza horse to his father-in-law, Ercole d’Este, Duke of Ferrara, to make a cannon.

King Charles VIII invades Italy and occupies Florence. The Medici are expelled from Florence.

Girolamo Savonarola, religious and political reformer, becomes a chief figure in Florentine Republic.
