The Annunciation arrives safely in Tokyo

Much to the relief of museum officials at the National Museum in Tokyo, the Annunciation arrived unscathed and is now in place, housed in an earthquake-proof room.

The move of the painting caused uproar and protest in Italy, not least from the Director of the Uffizi, and it was accompanied by one of the Uffizi's restorers on its trip from Rome.

The painting will remain in Tokyo for three months as the center piece for the exhibition: The Mind of Leonardo, shown previously at the Uffizi Gallery, and which presents the nature of Leonardo's mind and genius.
